Hey guys I thought it would be a great idea to flash version 43 of the Power Color 2014 Bios on my 2GB XFX Radeon Double Dissipation 7850 as this was the huge step up from the version 2012 version 20 I was currently running on it. I didn't realise that this was a reference card Bios and that mine was non reference as such it's now bricked beyond boot nothing but a black screen and the fans spinning. Does anyone have a soldering iron and the relevant skills to help me get a wire on pins 1 + 8 with the BIOS chip so I can try and resurrect this using this method as everything else I've tried seems to fail? I'm in the Knox area but can meet if need be let me know if you're into wine or I'll buy you a slab for your efforts? Thanks for reading.
PowerColor HD7850 needs BIOS. Discussion in 'Videocards - AMD Radeon. If card bricks just flash again bios you had before. Click to expand. Another brick. Dont know why i did it.So my PoV is gathering money for a new card.Or maybe PowerColor after weekend will send original bios.by the way memory on my 7850 is Elpida.
Update: Met with zeropluszero who very generously gave up his time today to resurrect the card which made me very happy indeed. Some great lessons learnt during the whole ordeal but it's comforting to have the support of the community which helped prevent great equipment from becoming e-waste unnecessarily.
Many thanks to all those who suggested ways to help me. The 7850 lives on, flashed to the XFX 7850 Black Edition Bios running Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste on the die to run 65 degrees under full load.
